The position involves inspecting and servicing marine engines, troubleshooting, and making minor repairs. It also involves addressing problems with boat steering and hydraulic systems, assisting the Boat Captain with all aspects of marine vessel operation, focusing on deck maintenance, safety, guest comfort, and other duties as directed by the Boat Captain.
Position responsibilities:
1. Carry out services and minor repairs on outboard, inboard, and ship engines.
2. Conducts plumbing and intake repairs.
3. Troubleshoots engine and electrical problems.
4. Replaces broken or worn-out engine parts.
5. Repairs faulty hydraulic and steering systems.
6. Conducts electrical AC system maintenance.
7. Completes service records and repair documents.
8. Tests the performance of marine engines and electrical systems.
9. Sets water vessels on blocks to ensure balance.
10. Conducts plumbing and propeller repairs.
11. Travels to marina or dock where the vessel is located.
12. Repairs faulty hydraulic and steering systems.
13. Tests the performance of a marine engine and electrical system.
14. Prepares and maintains mechanic records and maintenance documents on a monthly basis.
15. Conducts routine maintenance using a mechanical checklist
16. Schedules monthly, quarterly, and annual mechanical service for all vessels and related components
17. Maintains inventory logs (transfer in/out records).
18. Communicating maintenance and supply needs to the Boat Captain or appropriate departments.
19. Greets and assists all customers.
20. Monitor tour group activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide aid in emergencies, such as administering first aid or directing emergency evacuations, and communicate with company officers and the Safety & Health Officer.
21. Rescue distressed people using rescue techniques and equipment.
22. Contact emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury.
23. Examine injured people and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary, using available medical supplies and equipment.
24. Instruct participants in swimming or other recreational activities and provide safety precaution information.
25. Operate underwater recovery units.
26. Ensure the safe use of equipment, such as life jackets and jet skis.
27. Participate in recreational demonstrations to entertain guests.
28. Assist guests, Deckhands, and Tour Guides with the preparation, implementation and break down after an activity.
29. Address customer queries regarding optional tours and other onshore/island and water activities.
30. Provide directions and relevant information to customers.
31. Communicate in foreign languages with visitors.
32. Assist in safe boarding and disembarking of passengers.
33. Handle mooring lines when docking the vessel.
34. Maintain daily pre-and-post cruise checklists.
35. Ensure proper set-up for each cruise.
36. General maintenance that includes cleaning, painting and washing the marine vessels.
37. Act as lookout during inclement weather.
38. Keep an accurate passenger count.
39. Comply with all federal, state, and local boating laws.
40. Keep informed of shut-down and emergency evacuation procedures.
41. Serve as liaison between Adventure Guides, Customer Service Specialists, Lifeguards, Deckhands, Boat Mechanics, and Boat Captains.
42. Contacts emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury.
43. Performs any other assigned tasks or duties.
